Kyrese Washington

Kyrese Washington (they/them) is a New York City–based flutist, composer, and educator committed to making a meaningful impact through music. A distinguished performer, Kyrese has earned first place in several national competitions, including those hosted by the New York Flute Club, Atlanta Flute Club, Rochester Flute Association, and Raleigh Area Flute Association.

Kyrese’s compositional career has seen their works premiered across the U.S., including by the COPE Collective and SydeBoob Duo. In 2025, their international debut took place in Oslo, Norway, with Sonatine des Larmes performed by euphoniumist Bente lllevold, supported by Katherine Needleman’s Fund for Music.

They hold a BM in Flute Performance from UNC Greensboro, where they graduated as a Presser Scholar, and an MM in Classical Flute from the Manhattan School of Music. Their artistic growth has been shaped by mentors including Valerie Coleman, Dr. Erika Boysen, Dr. Tim Hagen, Dr. Kelly Nivison, and Adam Workman.
